The NZCPR is a confidential research database of information about people with cerebral palsy (CP) in New Zealand. Information collected about each person with cerebral palsy includes birth details, type and severity of cerebral palsy, other associated impairments and parent demographics. The NZCPR collects information from all around New Zealand to provide a national picture of cerebral palsy and shares this information with the Australian CP register. The NZCPR was launched in 2015 and is part of one of the largest CP Registers in the world.
The potential benefits of having a national NZCPR are:
The register will generate reports on demographics, frequency, distribution and severity of CP and share this information with local District Health Boards throughout New Zealand. This will enable better planning for the present and future service provision needs of people with cerebral palsy. The information contained on the register could assist with research projects in areas of Cerebral Palsy.
